How to locate a sunk boat ?

This had me concerned, as Ive lost a couple to the nasty pond monster.. who chewed for a while before spitting them back.
I know several not so lucky.. their boats devoured and gone for ever !
I saw this on alibaba.com ( A big China online buy anything site ) and thought for $25USD was worth a look.
wireless from sonar head to receiver, range of 120'(40M)
    echo depth of 0.6->50M ( 2'->180')

Tie a string to the back of a slow boat and trawl around until something appears on the screen !I tested this today down the local round pond, and it sensed rocks and debris on the botoom at 4' depth.
This is now a keeper for my toolbox !

I hope I don't ever lose one. But I know it will happen sooner or later. But while I was in the Military and I was sent to Eygpt for 6 months. I got all the way up to my Rescue Diver, and was going for my dive master. But I broke my wrist, and couldn't get back in the water while I was there. But I have all my dive gear, but the tanks. I can rent them at the Marina for $8. To bad you guys don't live closer. I'd charge you a 30 pack of Bud Light

I have had no luck with 2 different fish finders (Harbor Freight ones), maybe because of 5' depth and the narrow cone. It's only about 18" inches wide at that depth.
Metal detector has not worked either. Only about 6" range underwater.
Proton Magnetometer maybe when the water thaws.

grab the transponder and fabricate a conical shield around it akin a megaphone/cone. small end same as transducer, large end a 30-45' angle from source \_/ . ( smooth, solid interior of cone, non metallic )
This will collect more data on return. a foreign body will present a much higher return for on screen... Now a dense cloud will appear for large objects .. depending on what your fishfinder interprets that underwater critter as, will be displayed ( fish, shark, whale ? )
                  Best of luck !

LOL come to our pond! 30+ years of lost props, pipes and everything else you can imagine, probably a thousand blown glowplugs near the pit area!
Two brand new zippkits JAE props from last season down there and a 6s 5000mah lipo from a violent blow over of Kens 6s Hotshot 45.
Probably some parts from my old 3.5 tunnel hull down there still, that was about 25 years ago!
Still hoping they need to do some maintenance on the locks and drain that part of the Trent Canal, I'll be out with a metal finder before the water is gone!

We run in the bay in the top left side, perfect water unless there is a wind from dead north. Lots of spectators from the boaters waiting for the locks. The locks are in the small channel in the middle.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

That's 15 for me and 15 for you. It's no fun to drink alone.

hahaha my 6yo niece reckons the transponder is another bath boat toy like the mini submarine and rubber ducks already on my bath shelf !
Ive experience inside Faruno, GE and varied units from a previous occupation, and the insides of this cheapy appear up to spec.
Plans afoot to run it alongside anothery for test when a mate goes out fishing soon.

A guy at our Boondal boat club has recently lost a beautiful submarine to the Pond Monster. We've spent hours dredging, netting. grappling for it.
I'll have to let him know about this. Thanks Doc.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!
