Neu replacement for leo 4082 1600kv

Looks like my motor let go in the DF explorer 36. Looking for a replacement, and I'm only so familiar with the Neu sizes and winds. What is a good 6s motor(single) to power this boat? First look has me guessing 1521, not sure what I can get away with on KV though, as I hear you can get away with running them at higher rpm's..........

I replaced my 4082 with 1515 which was comparable IMO but I just bought a castle 1515 to replace it ( a bit larger can) you could grab the 1521 either 1.5 d or 1y would be good. The 1521 is a beast of a motor. These days I just go bigger because it leaves more headroom

It's easier to prop down a bigger motor than to have to prop up a smaller one. The 1521 is hardly gonna notice a m645 or 545 on it, opposed to a Leo 4082 that will

Exactly what I was thinking. Do you really think I can get away with the 1900kv of the1.5d on 6s? (42,000 rpm's)

Hmmm I'm not 100% on that. Maybe someone else will chime in. I know for sure the 1y would be good and handle ALOT of prop

The Neu 1521 1Y is 1577KV - same size as the Leo 4082 series. Once you go Neu, you'll never use any other motor. I run a 1521 1.5D (1900KV) on 4S in several boats on
4S2P using a 450/3. Motor never breaks a sweat. After lots of use Neu can re-build/blueprint rather reasonably. Neu is in San Diego CA USA

I agree. The Neu is excellent motor. 1y is the best choice Kevin.
Tony, do you think castle is as good as Neu? I recently sold my Neu 1515 and bought castle 1515. Hope I didn't make a mistake here....

Dana, funny you ask. I'm about to rig a freaky fast dual rudder Mean Machine for P-Offshore (which btw is all your fault since I saw your MM vid). I have both a Neu-blueprinted 1515 1Y AND a fresh Castle-Neu 1515 1Y. I'm going with the Castle/Neu. It's a very good motor.

Well unfortunatly I sold it to fund the castle. I was planning on buying a brand new Neu in the future for the mm and was thinking 1521. Maybe I'll just stick with the 1515 castle and put a Neu in my Df 26 to replace the Leo motor in it.
Glad I could be of some inspiration -)

I guess the point is, my plan is to replace all my leopards with Neu. After I got the 1515 I just want all Neu. The leopard were great upgrades from when I started this hobby using mainly ul1 motors in everything. But as tony said, I've got the Neu bug. They're just so awesome and worth every penny.

Thanks for confirming what my gut was telling me guys, I was leaning towards a 1521 Neu 1Y already based on the bit of research I've done.
