    Twin brushed motors- what esc?

I am planning on updating an old boat. This boat runs on twin 540 brushed motors. I need to get rid of the old mechanical speed controller in favour of a more modern ESC. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which ESC I should use? I was told an EMAXX ESC would work fine, but I thought I would ask here first.
    Thanks

Dont know for sure if they still make them but TEKIN brushed esc worked great for me on 3 17 turn motors. Is your boat direct drive or geared trans?

An RcHydros 90 amp esc will handel a set of neutraly timed brushed motors in series.

The hull is 28 inches long and currently uses two 7.2v battery packs. It is not derect drive and does use a transmision to connect the two motors to the drive shaft.

I'd run the Rchydros victory 90 or the jeti navy 600. Both can be bought in the store here @ ose. Be sure your motors have neutral timing ot you will blow the esc's.

For ease of installation you might look at the Traxxas # 3020 that Steven sells on this site!

I used it on a dual outboard application and its worked fine! How radical you gonna get?

I don't mean to hijack the thread but why can't you advance the timing? I have 2 trinity 15 turn motors advanced 15 degrees (gearbox I think is 2:1) on a novak dually rated at 400 amps. At first things were fine but now I have throttle problems.

Most 540 can motors will go nuclear at over 30 amps (unless you use top-quality modified car motors with hard brushes and springs in a geared arrangement). The 90-amp RC Hydros ESC will be WAY more than enough for your motors. The Jeti is physically smaller and should also work well with your motors.

Cam, please share how the esc you decide on does. I am real close to running twins/gearbox myself and the motors are 15 advanced. ran the jeti and rchydros on the bench and both seemed fine.

Sorry I should have elaborated. You can not run counter rotating motors with advanced timing on a single esc. That will result in a condition.

I think I will be going the Emaxx route for this. I found and emaxx esc with two titan motors for a pretty good deal. Now is there any thing I need to know about insalling/runig this set up? When it comes to timing electric motors I have no idea what that is all about. I am also thinking about running this set up on twin 2s lipo packs. Anyone have any advice or ideas?
