    micro drifter

I am the new owner of a micro drifter (Jay owned before) and can't wait to set it up. I think I will set it up to run in the upper 30's and hopefully handle aswell. I've read on Jay's past set ups for speed and it seems like a more than capable hull. I would love to here other setups for these boats and I even think Steve you own one. All the input possible before I make my purchases would be great. Thanx. The last thing I want is ...

if you have to run new hardware(new strut/prop shaft), then you do not want to run one of Jay's speed set=ups immediately. use a very conservative set-up for the 1st 3 runs or so to give the drive line a chance to 'run in', then start working your way up, your wallet will thank you for it .

      hardware

It comes with jays hardware with motor mount and servo so I need motor , speedo , batterys and prop. I do think jays sport set up is what I'll probubly run but the more input the better. PS my brother lives in stevens point and I grew up in northern WI til I was 13. Cool place in the summer.

IMO a lot of the burnt equipment probs that I read about stem from folks who, build a boat and try a 'hot' set-up for the very 1st run...before things have had a chance to loosen up(not to mention trimming the boat). hence the caution.

I had battery issues last summer. I have new packs coming for it.

I have some small Aveox motors that may work well in your cat. I ran a 1005/2Y on 6 NiMh cells (1950FAUP) in a Micro Iceburg cat and it ran in the high 30's with an X427. Look me up and I'll make you a deal on a motor/ESC combo if you would like.

Yes it's mine. Thats my other hobby but can't quite afford it right now but That just means more time for rc's. I built it in my garage along with alot of other creations. The bug is 8 feet wide ,16 feet long,37 inch trophy truck tires, has 24 inches of wheel travel,a 550 hp ls1 corvette motor and even has gullwing doors. As you can see I'm allittle bit of a overboard kind of person and it happens with everything so I don't see rc boats being any different since thats my new passion and a good one at that. I see many boats in my future and this website and you people on this forum have helped so much I can't even tell ya.PS the one with the door open it was still in finishing mode and yes I haul it in the bed of my f 450 and tow that trailer to the desert aswell.
