Not sure anyone has tried one though. I wanted some cushion on the speedo. An ICE will likely be fine but I always like to build in some fudge factor. What else is out there that is HV and can take a pounding? Schulze but bring money and if I remember correctly they're not super Neu friendly.

I've got one of these but have yet to run it
Same manufacturer just twin(that is a total of 600).I've got a couple of 240 amp 101 series coming.I should get them into service quite quickly.
Carl Cisneros or Keith Bradley have the most experience with these.Comment

I'm planning on putting these in "already set up" homes and see from there.I don't want to put them in any experimental situations.I don't like the way the van smells after transporting burnt stuff.Comment

That smell is the edge. You can't really smell it until you've been to the other side of it.
I suppose that inexpensive and high amperage are terms that can not co-exist. I know better.
Is anyone running the big schulze with the big Neu motors with success. I've seen the big mother run with Lehner 30 series and that's about it.Noisy personComment

No not really. The guy makes very very few of them. Each is a one off. I think there are 5 total from the molds now. One of which has been retired. I've been watching/waiting (stalking really) for one of these to become available since 2008. It's carbon, kevlar, and honeycomb. The finish is no longer perfect as it's turned a bunch of laps but most of the homework is done on the setup and it's solid as a rock. It will just need some tweaking for the rpm differences between nitro and FE.
You'll see it. Not sure if I'll have it put all together before Feb but for spring for sure. Needs a motor, speedo, and batteries. None of which have I committed to yet. I want to carry around 7500mah but haven't found quite the right combo yet.Noisy personComment

How old is you FC 8S 300? I did some testing for Benjamin in 2011 and the generation of ESC's after that seem much improved.
I'm running a 6S 300 of later spec in my N-2 mono and it has been great. Runs cool and has nice smooth throttle modulation which the first ones did not.
I did get to see the newest genereation of the 400 earlier this year before the FC meltdown and it looked incredible comapared to what the previous one looked like.
It had nice thick copper plates in the middle of the PCB (think older Schulzes) and huge wires. I think Jim Caldwell said he was running one and liked it but unfortunately lost the boat it was in.
Maybe you could ask him.
It's a shame that all that development Benjamin paid for is being whorred out to the whole world now under different names. Scoundrels!!!
As far as Schulzes and Neu compatibility the main problems were with Delta wind motors. Wye winds from what I have seen have been fine.
David Hall in Alabama is running a newer Schulze 300 on a wye wind 2215 in a big rigger on 10S with no issues at all.

The problem was with motors that have very low resistance so it could have been the problem
with the Plett.
Your 300 could have been NOS so you might not have got the latest
version. The 6S 300 I tested back 2011 was quite a bit smaller than the one I'm running now
so I know there was some significant changes made.
I'm going to try one of the big controllers from Flier. For the money
It's a lot less risk than a big Schulze which are not immune to failure either.
