G,day all I have a hobbywing 120a esc in my boat, Won,t run flat out any more, just cruises now, is this the caps or the fets
that need repair. Thanks for any advise peter.
I have been having a huge issue with my LVC's on all my new Hobbywing ESC's.They will only run correctly with LVC "OFF".
For reference that is 1 SK 180,2 SK HV80's and 2 SK 120's.Just my experience as of late.
Thanks for the replys I,ve reprogramed reset throttle travel no change, how do you dudes find swoardfish esc,s thinking of going to them, I,ve had hobbywing in my cars on & off road for years with no dramas, but i didn,t seal the boat esc with liquid elec tape could this have damaged something, the boat is a 800 jet stream running 1800kv turnigy motor, ran great about 6 times now boring, is ther any way to test esc without running the boat, sorry for all the questions but new to elec boats only had nitro before but loving the brushless/ lipo combo, all comments and advise welcome hope to learn heaps from you all Cheers peter.
if you had overheated the motor at any time, the magnets inside lose strength, and thus the motor runs like a wimp ?
or the esc overheated and caused issues ?
does the motor rev 100% on shore. .. or is sit still lethargic ?
is the aft free spinning, or tight ?
lotsa reasons beyond esc failure why a hull would slow down
running dual water pickups one for esc one for motor nothing seems over hot after runs, batts warm but not hot, motor does not feel too hot, does running constant full revs, ruin esc? sorry run two batts in boat wired at 11.1v thanks.
Have you tried the batts in another vehicle? I would run them down and then charge them, making note of how many mah they take back, as, if they are "tired" it will probably be considerably less.
The B grade HK lipos could be taking a dump almost right away as well. Their A grade batteries can have a hard time maintaining voltage under heavy load.
Batteries are the core of an electric boat, you usually get what you pay for.
You say it used to go fast now it goes slow, if you didn't change the wiring or anything I bet the B grade batts are done.
They might show proper voltage on a multimeter but that is resting not loaded voltage, as soon as they are loaded the voltage may drop right off then recover by the time you get a meter on them. IN series the + from one battery & - from the other are connected together, then the remaining + & - are connected to the esc. IN a 2P setup the reds are connected together and the blacks are connected together then the pairs are connected to the esc. You need a harness of some type to run 2p or a pair of connectors on each esc lead, Unless you are using something like ec5 connectors then you need a harness with a bunch of extra connectors to even run in series. (useless connectors in a multi battery setup!)
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
The esc is hobbywing 120a, Ihave 2 sets of batts I,ll try the other set, I use these in my offroad truck aswell, maybe time for new batts thanks peter.
