I have a mono with a stinger set up. I did not run the stuffing tube thru it-- the tube extends just past the transom so that it is flush with the stinger back plate when that is mounted. You can then seal the backplate to the transom to keep the water out. There should be a rubber gasket between the backplate and the stinger main tube which seals it, but allows some up/down adjustment.
