vanquish boat not bad like they say

Just came from running vanquish boat. I'm running lepord 4082 1600kv with x645 prop I got her up to 46.2 on GPS esc was a seaking 80hv which died not from over heating sum thing ot stuck on prop and cause it to bind which kill it on the last run. I got a fighter cat 300mah 16s esc can the 1600kv handle it I know the esc can.the was running no bow diping at all the break rudder was issue at first bout after quick fix the boat handle choppy water real well and that's ocean.

Why wouldn't the motor be able to "handle" that esc?
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

The motor will not handle 8S for long - it will burn up especially if you run for extended periods. How many cells are you running now? An 80 amp ESC is way too little for 6s with that setup and is challenged on 4S. You should be able to get that boat well into the 60s with that motor on 6S - keeping it on the water however will be something else.

          8s is 29.6v and the Leopard website says a 4082 1600kv can handle 33v

You never mentioned anything about 8s in your post!
47 000 + rpm nominal no! On 6s that setup is on the hot side at over 35 000 but doable on the right prop. A 4082 @ over 35000 rpm with a 642 prop on a Vanquish? Are you sure it just didn't cook that 80 amp esc? That setup will pull more than 80 amps, and the damage is cumulative. My buddy Kendt on here runs that motor (different prop and esc of course!) in a 36" Wildthing and is regularly logging over 100 amps average. Think he is running a T-180 esc.

Sorry but all motor specs that you see are not relevent to boat use re max voltages, that motor is a 6s at 35500rpm unloaded which is still a fairly hot set up unless your looking to run SAW set ups.

The 1600kv is ok on 6s providing you keep prop size right & not run for to long period, 8s as rated in specs will give over 47000rpm unloaded which will result in smoke in a boat.

The thing you also have to bear in mind is the Vanquish at 41.5" is a large boat better suited to Leopard 56 series motors, using 40series motors in this hull is a little on the small size but do able providing you use the correct set ups ie not to big props & keeping rpm in check.

Thx I keep that in mind I don't think I'm going any bigger than a x645 prop with my fighter cat 300mah 3s to 16s esc I'm looking for low to kid 50's

I have a question I want to run a cat and vee for top speed straightaway runs, can I run a 4082 2200kv with 300a ESC on 6S? And what prop 41" genesis hull and 41" vanquish hull?

The 4082 2200kv is best suited for a 4S system. The Genesis is a 37" boat hull, not 41" (you don't include the rudder)

A great motor for a 41" boat is the Leopard 4082-1340Kv Y wind motor. You could easily run it on a SF180 esc. 6S is the best voltage for it but, 8S would not be a great idea unless it is VERY short SAW runs checking temps and voltages often.
