Hi from Queensland Australia. 1st time posting on this forum. I am currently a gas (petrol boater) and not long ago purchased a hydroplane kit Sport 40 (31") from Ml Boats. With the permission of the manufacturer I enlarged the bits to about the 50" mark and built a gas hydro with an RCMK 26cc power plant. Firstly as I have now made the gas boat, I have an electric size boat left over. I do not wish to use any nitro engines, as I wish to use this one in ponds local to me. I have no idea what size of motor (brushless) to use, what size of batteries (lipo) and what size of speed controller will handle the power. Historically electrics and I do not mix, I started flying planes a while ago and thought electric would be the go. The plane lasted a take off and 43 seconds of flight, before the dam at the airfield received a visitor. (very bad flying).
Any assistance with the bits required to make this a goer would be appreciated. Please use simple language for any setups as I dont really understand the formulas etc.
The other thing is, now I have this kit, I now wish to build an F1 tunnel hull in both electric and gas, but plans are extremely difficult to come by. I purchased a set of Dunlap plans from Airage Store. The measurements on at least one bulkhead were 7.5mm out, and nothing else lined up. In other words cr-p! When I blew them up to gas size, (200%) the boat would have looked like a pretzel if I could have built it at all. Complained to the supplier and I am still awaiting a reply.
Question is, does anybody on this site have F1 plans that a boat can actually be built from.
I do know that there are fiberglass hulls available, but unfortuneatly cost of post/freight to Australia makes them very expensive, and no-one here makes them any more.
Any help appreciated.
