    epoxy dried-any ideas?

picked up a used boat with dried epoxy on the hull bottom. air dam was removed-leaving the epoxy. is there a way to remove the epoxy without-screwing up the jellcoat?

Heatgun or hairdryer. Use minimum amount of heat and keep working at it then some heat until it breaks loose.

    Works like a charm.

phenol based paint stripper.. paint onto epoxy, will soften.
stop the reaction with phosphoric acid. or will eat the whole boat !

Yup it will do that. Its a plastic type resin after all. You want to direct the heat best you can to the affected area. It will take a little muscle to get it loose but grab it with pliers and work it back and forth and it will go.

not enough there to grab with anything. only about 1/16 high or less in spots, about 1/2" wide--better i leave it alone! does not hurt anything!

                Hey John,

Why not just sand it down. Sometime that's the only way to effectively get rid of cured epoxy without damaging the surrounding areas.

                Later,
