    Power for SprintCat

Hi need some input on a 35" SprintCat,
Planned on a single drive Leopard 4092 and SeaKing 180 running 6s 2p.
Only thing I would want to lock on if possible is the 6s2p as I own them and prefer just this size for now.
Is the Leopard 4092 and SeaKing 180 up to the task or would this be underpowered.

Currently running this combo in my DF Pirate. Only have six runs on it so do not have enough information to judge the capabilities of this combo.

    Thanks in advance?

I run a 1527/1Y on 6S in my SprintCat and it runs awesome with an x455 cupped and detongued. You will need to run a smaller prop or the 180 will smoke.

Fluid, what amp draw should I be looking for. The eagle tree recorded max amp spike at 132 amps.

Mine pulls an average of 150-160 amps with spikes to 220. That's four horsepower, plenty for the hull.

          Thanks
That tells me that I have plenty left in the setup for stepping up the prop size.

Been reading that the Leopard 4082, 1600 Kv pulls less amp at 6s than the 4092, 1490 Kv. 4082 having more torque and the 4092 having the power via rpm.
With that " if correct" being said which would be the best choice for the aeromarine 35" SprintCat.
Thanks in advance for your input!

I have trouble believing that. The Kv values are very close, and the longer 92mm motor should have more torque and horsepower potential. The 4092 also has more mass to handle more heat. However, neither motor is suited to the SprintCat IME. Even for Q Sport Hydros, most racers have gone with the 1250 Kv 1527/1Y motor. More torque and plenty of rpm for the larger props which make that hull move so well. Get the 4092/1300 motor.

How did you deal with closing off the cowl? Steven is concerned about the cowl sealing?

What ESC are you running to eliminate overtaxing it? With the 1527/1 Y on 6 s

Do you still believe in the hull or do suggest something else in a fast cat that will turn?

                Thanks for the input!

OK for the cowl cut some of the turbine off the back and an inch into the flat area, seal it w a piece of lexan and silicone or shoe goo and do the same across the back to have a flat place to tape. I also run a 1527/1Y with an old Hydra 240LV on 6S2P 10,000mah, (same motor and ESC for 5 years) I use long flat packs 3 and 3 cells end to end (custom built) and slip them inside the sponsons, I also have remy custom build my SC hulls with shelves glassed into the sponsons, with no stringers, not only does it make it easier to get batts in and out I believe it stiffens the hull and sponsons making the boat more consistent. My boat has won 5 national championships in Q Offshore, and won Open Cat with it at The NortherLights Open, and The Michigan Cup Race also this year. Anyone whose seen it run says its the best Q boat they've ever seen, so I believe in the SC as an offshore boat. I've been running the boat for over 5 years, changing only the batteries and prop, with each consecutive change in battery technology I've been able to go faster and faster and still make time. Heres a little info.
1st batts) Enerland 30C 10,000mah-56 mph 4 minutes almost no battery left PROP== really modded X648/2
                  2nd batts) Hyperion 45C 10,000mah 60mph 4 minutes about 10% batt left same prop
                  3rd batts) TP 65C 10.000mah 62 mph 4 minutes 30% battery left!!!!! same prop.... new prop X452/2 (modded) 67mph 5% left
                  4th batts) (and currently what I'm using) Dinogy 65c 10,000 67mph 4 minutes 18% batt left X452/2 modded
                  The Dinogy's are great batts.
I have raced this same cat in S-T offshore and in Open Cat against BIGGER gas nitro and FE cats, and it is a very capable hull.

Here's another little tid bit, if you cut an inch off the sponsons you can also power this boat with P power and race in P-Offshore (legally) using a 1521/1.5D and use 4s 5000's and 4S can fit in the sponson with no problem, or modification.

I think it'd be easier to just run the smaller sprintcat..

I have the classic hatch which is a simple tape down. For the turbine hatch on my Q Sport Hydro I cut the turbine short and glassed in a piece of G-10 plate:

The Castle ICE240LV has worked perfectly for over a year.

I haven't seen a similar sized cat which will turn as well. The FC Cheetah has a similar bottom but I do not know how it compares to the SCs.

the smaller sprintcat is 29" and is the same bottom as a mean machine (I believe) it does not handle nearly as well especially at speed.

I really like the turbine hatch and do not have a problem modifying it. Interesting thoughts on power so may have to move up to castle and 240lv. Not sure about batteries would prefer to run non modified Dynogy 6s 5000 cells.
