    Dynamite 80A ESC

I sold my dynamite 80A ESC to a friend at the lake and we tested it out with very good results.

Previuosly he had a t180 which failed under the same conditions ie prop motor cells. Hull is a miss vegas (first version) that I converted to brushless. Everything ran cool.

I ran the Dynamite 80A ESC in several boats at the 2012 Nats and it never missed a beat.

So you believe that the D80 is superior to the T180? Most forget that ESC damage is cumulative - the T180 may have been over amped or run wet in the past. But good to hear that the D80 is a good controller.

Ummmmm (I know you weren't addressing me... but I'll respond anyhow.. )

I don't know anything about the T180, and I certainly wouldn't profess that an 80A rated ESC is "better" than a 180A ESC... however...

The packaging on the PB ESCs definitely makes them less likely to be damaged by water, fire, dropping, shoddy install, etc...

The increase in wire gauge from 14 to 12 was also a marked improvement.

        The water cooling works well.

If I had one complaint, though it is improved, the throttle curve is still a bit touchy. Harsh startup and a pretty "choppy" curve... The step from "Full throttle" to "Just shy of full throttle" is a bit of a step, so I'm selective as to what I'll run these in. OPC, not so much... Oval cat or Mono or Hydro... certainly... Offshore... it works, but you have to have the boat tuned well so you don't have to spend a lot of time "feathering" the throttle.

For things like 1/10th scale, where the boats can get wet inside, I really appreciate the water-proofness...

I think the T 180s are under rated. I've been using one in my mono on 4s and a Neu 1527 1D motor all year with no problems. I've had 3 castle 240s shut down and quit working while racing in P mono. There quite the work horse in my opinion.

              Mark,

I've just had a bad experience with the t180's. I've only had one that has been indestructable. It's been underwater for hours and still worked, been run hard and put up wet if you know what i mean. but everyother one has been nothing but trouble. then there's no customer service, so if I did just get a few lemons there's no way to have it repaired or replaced. Proboat on the other hand has held up like a champ. I've tested a 60amp with the E/T and it held 103amps constant with 140+ peak. Not to mention proboat has awesome customer service. I had one 60amp that was defective. they sent me a replacement asap. But now with the D80 out I don't think I'll be playing the lotto with t180's anymore

I have the same problem with Impulse 31 v2 esc dyn3820 (80 amp)

esc does not work for volt cutoff and cutoff type, (can not be programmed with programming card)
not protect LiPo or NiMH batteries. no volt cutoff and cutoff type ldle. Sounds "be" but not programming (explodes batteries) no factory settings.
                Other programs work, brake, reverse..
                NO automatic volt cutoff
No auto detection for the number and
type of cells. This circuit no provides the
correct cutoff for all types and number of cells.
                Permanent damage to the batteries

                  I think I need a translator!
I must say I've had great luck with all the versions of PB ESC I've used including the original Geico one, not one has gone up in smoke or quit working, the throttle is a bit touchy though.
I pick them up used at great prices, I've also logged way, way over the ratings many times. Once did a run with no esc cooling by mistake, came in HOT but still works although I do expect a shorter lifespan on that one.
I time my runs and don't rely on ANY lvc, My old SV is still running the old nimh esc and I've only run lipos in that thing, still the original blue can motor. My favorite boat, noting has ever gone wrong with it.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
