I'm going to build a df26 powered by leopard 2650kv, HW 120 amp ecs, spinning a x642 on 4s. Would this be a decent play/sport boat setup or is it too hot? Suggestion? Thanks,MM.

Yep, a recipe for disaster. Which Leopard, 36mm or 40mm can? You'd be far better off with a Leopard 4074 1800 or 2000 Kv motor and a prop in the 40-45mm range. With decent packs you'll have reasonable run time and reliability, with speeds in the 40s to low 50s depending on the motor. The lower Kv will give longer run times with speeds a few mph below the 2000 Kv motor. Leopard makes a 2200 Kv motor in that size but then you are getting into more of a racing setup than a sport setup. Speeds can be higher but run time and heat will be higher as well.

Morning, I got several motors from you , Mr. fluid, a while back, Leo 3674 3270kv(in use), leo 3674 2650kv, and a Leo 4082 2200kv. Looking to use the motors I have to build a fun reliable boat for the family. Sport/racing setup wouldn't be bad. A little less run time, I could live with that. So I'll have to get a 180+ esc to run these motor safely. I was trying to be cheap and running a 120 esc. Thanks Guys. I would be up for reliable hotter race/sport setups w/ less play time if your willing to share. Thanks again, MM. Its time to build some toys.Comment

My Syncron uses a Neu 1515 2200kv motor on 4S with an x440 prop, with a cc240A ESC-- it is very fast and reliable, but a bit on the costly side.

For the past 2 months I have been running a DF26 with a leo 3650, 2700kv, X437 3 blade on 3s 5000mah and it runs great. I have a 120 Seaking esc and temps are in the 140 range, speed gps'd at 43 mph. The only problem I have is keeping everything epoxied to the inside of the hull. I used 15 minute epoxy and the parts ( motor mounts, servo mount and battery tray) won't stick to the hull fiberglass.Comment
