What's the longest runtime I can get?

Hey, guys. I have a 36" mono, Leopard 4082 1600kv, Turnigy 180 amp ESC, dual pickup rudder, aluminum water jacket, 0.078 wire drive, and X442 prop.

    1. What's the longest runtime I could get on 6s if I am mostly using full throttle on smooth water?

    2. What Mah should I get for the longest runtime?

Thx in advance for all responses!

There is an app for that.

Assuming a 60amp draw using two 5000 mah batteries you will get about 10minutes

You really need to measure your amp draw...

The greatest mAh cells you can buy in parallel will give you the longest run time. As Jim stated, you need to konw your amp draw, since even with a lot of battery capacity you can overheat before you run out of battery capacity. If I had to guess I'd say you are using a bit under 100 amps now, how much under depends on how wet the boat runs, how sharp the turns are, etc.

At 100amps you will get about 4.2 minutes. Assuming you have 10000mah and you are going to leave 30% in the batteries, thus drawing down 7000mah's and leaving 3000mah's in reserve.

The capacity of the battery aside, are you asking what is the longest time you can run your set up at continuously WOT without over heating things.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't a correctly set-up boat be capable of continuous open throttle without overheating?

In my personal opinion 35500rpm unloaded in a mono is on the hot side of set ups if run for to long period. keeping closer to 30000rpm unloaded or under & run times will be longer without excesive heat.
