    How to lay stips of fiberglass in catamaran. Need advice!

    Can someone please point to a thread that talks about laying fiberglass in a catamaran hull? I guess I'm looking in all the wrong places for a thread and would appreciate some help.

    I'm trying to figure out the best way to lay some fiberglass strips as far forward as I can get them in the seams of my 34" Segad. I tried this the other day without success. The combination of small space then not being able to see as well as trying to pull my hand out without bringing the fiberglass cloth back with me. It was painfull!! I guess I had the wrong technique and I'm sure there a better way.

    Thanks!!

    Quite messy, but you can give this a try;

    Use a mini paint roller handle, without an actual roller on it, wet out the fiberglass, roll it on the end bit (where your roller would normally go) than carefully roll it in place, use a mirror if necessary. Tap it down with an extended brush.

    You can even bend your own tool for tiny spaces.

    This is the technique we used in laying up jet fuselages
    Hope that helps.

      I would think you could take a slightly larger dowel like a 3/8" and drill a 3/16" hole into it somewhere close to center. Then glue a 3/16" dowel long and it should form a "t". Then just wet the entire precut cloth, toss it in and use the T handle to roll it out?

        I like mini paint roller idea. I'll have to try that. Thanks!

        Any other methods anyone else would like to share?

          I like to fill the nose up with expanding foam in my cats. Makes the whole front of the boat solid.
