Charging NIMH packs for 1st time?

I was wondering what amp rating I should charge my new packs at. They are 7 cell 4200mah w/ a prophet plus charger. Thanks

Whenever I buy a new battery pack I always cycle it at 1 amp, whether it is a matched and zapped battery pack or not about four or fives times. Then for about the first five runs I just take it easy and discharge the packs at half throttle.
    Hope this helps

After I have broken the battery in I would normally charge the battery pack at 2 amps. A 4500 mah battery can also be rated at 4.5 amphour. The recommended charge current for a nimh batery is 2c, this means that the recommended maximun charge current should be somewhere around 9 amps. But I would never charge my battery packs at this sort of current, it is not good for them at all . I tend to charge my battery packs at 5 amps between races on the weekend but during the week I like to cycle them at least once at 1 amp.

when you first charge your nimh, you always charge them on a slow amp charge for the first time, this creates a building block for the battery, just incase you ever have to fast charge the battery. slow charge=more life fast charge=increse performince
