What do you have? The 12th or 8th scale? if it's the 12th where are you going to fit a 6s pack?

Taylor is correct, the 10XL is really too much. A club member now runs a 12XL in his 1/10th scale hydro on 6S and it flys. When he ran a 9XL he could only run three laps before thermalling....

I have the Proboat 1/12 Llumar Hull and the real estate is very tight in front of the motor, unless you breach the sides and place your LiPo horizontally into the sponson area.

I am considering on running either an 8L-3072kv with 3S/4500/30C or an 8XL-2084kv with 4S1P/4500/30C using (2) 2S packs. Getting the correct COG are a challenge on these boats. Good Luck!

I've tried that setup on my Mean Machine running 6S1P/4500/30C. A 12XL-1390kv motor will run ideal on 6S Lipo. It went 53mph on a m545 prop. It really depends on the prop you use. I would prop up slowly starting with a x440 - x442 - x445 - x642 and check temps after 1 minute of the initial run with each prop. According to my formula, here are some conservative speeds you might achieve with each prop:

                      x440: 46mph
                      x442: 48mph
                      x445: 52mph
                      x642: 55mph
                      Mean Machine Cat: 9XL, 4S2P, CC120, M545 (50mph) -- DF22 Hydro: 8L, 3S1P/4500, CC120, x637 (49mph) -- M-1 SuperCat: 1521/1Y, 6S2P, CC240, x447 (61mph) -- SV27 Mono: stock setup, 14-cell/4200, x642 (42mph) -- Micro Scat Cat: 28-3600, 3S1P/2100, Turnigy 60, x430 (41mph)
