    Waxing your boats???

I read in a blog to never wax the bottom of the boat, but they recommend using fiberglass friendly spray wax on the main body, etc... Anybody here got any advice on brands that are good for this application??? I assume a microfiber cloth will work best... Thanks all!!!

If I were to use wax, I would use mothers carnauba wax and microfiber

He wasn't joking, it's common to sand or scuff the bottoms of boats. Although I think 200 is too aggressive I use 600 on all my boats, been doing it for years.

If you did some research rpedro and want a fast boat you WOULD sand the bottom of your hull. It would be a better running hull. Sanding/ squareing off all sharp corners aswell.
PT-45, 109mph, finally gave up after last bad crash
                H&M 1/8 Miss Bud 73 mph
                Chris Craft 16 mph

IF you decide to wax the topsides I'd do what Dana says and use a pure Carnuba wax, a lot of additives lilke silicon are almost impossible to remove from the hull and can make future repairs almost impossible to finish right unless you sand and refinish the whole boat.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I was thinking the same thing... I might just leave the hull alone... wipe it down with a clean microfiber cloth...

                              Hey New Guy,

                              Yes Scuff the bottom.

I have used these two products for years to repel water off my cars and boats. I know it is what to use on the deck and sides but I also used it on a full size boat hull. It was hard to prove if faster but it used a little less fuel. Being EFI not a carb I would have to think it was going through the water easier.

The Starbrite makes rain water just run off the cars, boats and airplanes.
