cat boat hull

I am planning a boat build and wondering which hull is worth buying ie fightercat or other ?
Who makes a quality hull that is larger than 29 in and smaller than 60in . I am going to bulid a twin motor and am looking for speeds of 60 mph plus with durability as top concern.

You're not tied to FC style Chinese hulls, try H&M in Germany for their maritimo 36"

That is a huge range in sizes, meaning a huge range in costs. Before you make a decision, you NEED to decide what your goals are for the build, otherwise you have a large risk of disappointment.

- How will you run the boat - oval racing, top speed runs, general sport running?
- How important is run time versus speed? Hint - you can't have it all.
- What is your experience level with R/C boats?
- What kind of water do you run on - smooth pond, windy pond, large lake, ocean? Wave size? Wind speeds?
- How will you transport the boat - car trunk, SUV, pickup, motorcycle?
- What is your budget? Your size range is too large to make an informed guess.
- Are you interested in scale appearance or performance?

If you want meaningful responses you need to give us more information. The info supplied by other posters above is based on guesses as to what you really want/need - and they may be 'way off base. 42 inch of speed!

Ok here is how you get there with minium cost and is the best deal out there. Go to horracing.com and get the zonda cat and get the 180 esc's that are sold here and run some 6s 130c lipos. This is about 1000.00 us dollars. Best deal for what you want to do. I run this boat and use a pair of 280 esc that will handle 16s each @165mm 62mm 30mm their not small. With this kind of power I have some wiggle room as to what can be done.

I had a customer that did a electric build I think he said was 1800.00 and got those speeds with our 50" thunderbolt. its a carbon fiber hull,the hangover in the back is 3" so its only 47" of running surface,there is a build thread over on rc groups. and some video's of the boat running.It's a nice hull for 350.00 and made out of carbon fiber they are very strong.

These boots are looking interesting but i searched and read that the experiences and opinions of racers that have been running that particular rc boot and i conclude that these are hard to handle because if the people who had experience found it hard to handle it then there is a great chance of it

We do not really push are scale type boats, to racers. But as far as the thunderbolt goes. We entered our thunderbolt in last years 1st ever 52cc twin gas out rigger class. With 7 out riggers entered and our cat we left in first place. You do not beat out riggers with a cat that handles poorly. Our boat handles rough water fantastic as well, The boat I'm talking about is 26lbs and runs 84 mph. last year that was on the gas saw record. with a scale boat that we regard as a mere hobby boat.I believe the first lie, people buy in to(from boat manufactures) is we make race boats, hull manufactures make hulls, if they float. we did our job. Racers make race boats.The problem with racers today is if you have ten of them only one, or 2 will be true racers,They are the ones everybody else copies,The rest are just guys that buy what they have but do not put the time in to learn how to use it.also at that race. we signed up to be in impba that day.The politics of model boat racing keeps us out. but last year we brought a big stick and won the fastest class there is.We raced against some of the more active racers in dist 3. what this represents is the time at the lake,and at the end of the day. that is what it takes to be a racer.and we looked good doing it. I only posted this in response to post 13 if it was directed at our boat.Not to mention all the you tube video's of the thunderbolt running in the hands of first time modelers.I do not think you will find many negative post about the way this boat runs.
