I have been looking at people sealing their canopies before running with clear tape... Is EVERYONE doing this??? Just curious...?and if so, what type of tape is used to not damage the boat finish??? Sorry, looking at different setups today, and I noticed the tape on various boats...How do you LAKE it?Comment

Yep everybody does it to keep out water, I use clear hockey tape, works great, leaves no residue and doesn't lift the paint (as long as you let it fully cure, that sucked!)If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?Comment

Sealing the hatch is a must, you must have the inside of the boat 100% waterfroof including no water entering through the stuffing tube or through hardware bolt holes etc. You can get specific clear waterproof tapes, some also use hockey sock tape which is quite sticky so you have to watch painted surfaces as it can pull paint off. You can also use good old electrical tape which works very well indeed & is cheap to buy + you can get it in the colour of your boat, it also goes round curved hatches where it stretches & sits flat. The clear tape like hockey tape wont go round curved areas so you have to tape in shorter pieces of tape.Comment

Hockey tape like this works great.

No tape for me,
I mod all my boat hatches so they have a water tight seal instead of tape,
And make hatch locks with thumb nuts on them for easy checking on things,
Like temps and gps readings and easy access to the cells to.
Or you can buy a kits to do it.
