    Small GPS for FE Boat

I tried to search but didnt find much on it...
What GPS are you guys using in your boat? I'm looking for a small/mini gps that can stay in the boat while its running.

    Thanks

I use the Garmin Forerunner 201. It fits in all but a couple of my boats.

Saw this and thought it looked interesting. Don't know anything about it but what I have read, I use an Eagletree logger.
Price seems right and it's small.

            Small GPS

I have the "velocity rc" unit that is the same as the hobby king unit. It works great for top speed and total distance traveled.
For planes, it also gives max altitude reached. Weight is under an ounce.
For $100 bucks it does what I want.

if you have not space you can use the gps from hobbyking (about 70usd), otherwise you can use a garmin geko (40usd and you can use it for trekking/biking too...)

I asked a similar question a bit back, started off on radar guns.

I bought the HK unit. One time it got some moisture in it, so I did the corrosion X after a long dry out. Sealed ends with silicone.

It worked just perfect for a few more runs. Then poof, it died.

$70 in the trash... Kind of pissed. Not sure if HK will warranty it or not...

We also use a Garmin forerunner. Used off ebay for 45 bucks. We double checked it against a couple of car speedo's and a "sports/hobby" radar gun. The cars (grand cherokee and a linclon mkt) were both within .2 mph but that silly radar gun! Try 4 mph faster than actual! Guess they sell more if Jr's fast-ball checks faster than he actually heaves!

Don't miss these...they are much nicer than the HK units and they are purpose built for RC speed reading. Works off of a small battery inside for cordless operation, but also has a servo plug port to run of a rx or rx pack if you wish.

Lets see, you want to know how fast your boat is going, then you want to make it go faster, then things start to blowup. You are out the money for the cheap GPS AND what blew up.
It is cheaper and less painful to do it right the first time and get a Eagletree data logger and GPS so you can see what is actually going on in your boat when it is running.
