    mounting water pickup's help please

Hi to everyone that views this

i am about to mount my water pickups in the bottom of the hull in my 34" cheetah i was thinking about mounting them about 2" from the back then after doing some reading they say to mount them as far back as i can so i was think about 1/2 inch from the back does that sound right to everyone.........then i was thing befor i mount them to drill them out and putting in bigger tubing in them for better water pickup does anyone think that would help or should i just leave them alone ......Thanks Jim

I would not bother drilling them out. Looks like you remembered that they are mounted into the hull flush with the sponson bottom, not sticking down into the water.

Actually I'm lost here to the pickups have a flange, mine are in the mail but when they get here I'm not sure how to mount them. Far back in the sponson that's feasible but the cuts are to be made how, and if its too hard should I just sell and buy transom pickups?

when i cut my holes i used a dremel with a small cutoff wheel i made the holes a little small and then i used a file to make the holes bigger so i could give them a nice tight fit.........did you get yours from OSE?

I got them from hor racing but essentially they are the same. How big of a lip/flange is it because once I lay my carbon fiber down I'm unsure how thick my hull will be.

I have a 54" mhz drambuie on ice. So I'm doing dual "dual" pickups.
