    5.5mm "cut-style" bullets. Any good?

Hey, guys. I see that there are normal 5.5mm bullet connectors on OSE, but there are also "cut style" 5.5mm bullet connectors on OSE. It says on the OSE site that the cut-style are "easier to solder". The cut style are the same price, but allegedly better. However, the normal 5.5s are out of stock, and the cut-style have 164 in stock, so what gives? Are the cut-style better than the normal? Are the cut-style even any good? Am I missing something? Thx for all responses!

A while back Steven said that he can no longer get the so-called ''normal" 5.5 mm bullets from the usual supplier any more, so Steven asked which style would we prefer, most people wanted the cut-style for ease of soldering, a few of us ( myself) said that the "normal" ones are really useful if one were to make a parallel style bullet connector. The idea is to have a thin copper/brass rod go thru the holes on the cup and you are done. Steven was most accommodating and said he will carry both. I think he stocks more on the cut style so the other is out of stock. I just ordered a bunch of the cut-style and although it looked a bit different than the old batch ( so-called normal , it is actually refered to as cup-style ), I think it is just as good. The mating is smooth and tight, no need to worry if it will get loosened up.
The complain was that the cup-style was not easy to solder because the melted solder would leak out of the holes thus preventing a neat job where as the cut style holds the molten solder better.
Too many boats, not enough time...

      Hey,
I use a wood jig to hold the connectors in place,
And also use non stick foil,
To control the solder from coming out the holes on the cup style and cut style to.
Works pretty good for a nice clean job to.

But I also use a mini torch to solder them.

Cut style works really good with larger wire.
