      Hello Jeff:

60 Mph and 10 minutes run time is not possible on a "budget".

What's your actual budget? Unless we know what you can spend, its all usless advice anyone actually will be giving.

        Jeff,

I'm cormputer challanged so I took a picture of your boat on my cormputer screen and am posting the picture ()

Like Mr. Doby says, 60 mph for ten minutes, especially on a hull that size, pretty much regardless of budget, is, while not impossible, most difficult. Runtime is a function of your needed battery capacity, which is tied to current draw. Ten minutes runtime needs LOTS of batteries, which by virture of their weight need LOTS of power to go that fast, which uses LOTS of batteries - a circular self-defeating dilemma. Then there's heat buildup. Ten minutes is a lot of time for heat to build up, and you know where that leads (). Using less than the very best components increases this risk. Also, as Jay said on IW, waterproofing is a must-do. Your cowl makes that tough, 'thoug a sub-hatch could fix that if done nicely.
Not trying to dissuade you from converting to FE - seems to be a trend, but especially converting large gas/nitro hulls to FE takes some carefull setting up. FWIW David Newland, NAMBA's Nat'l FE Chairman was, until recently the NAMBA D19 points leader in Open Offshore with what I believe was a 39" FE mono.

Sorry I can't help you with component choice/setup - I've never had such a rig, only P-Class (4-cell) stuff. One of my club members has run a FE Conquest Cat in Open, but I don't think it was in Offshore, just Sprint. His handle on OSE is racemechanix, maybe he'll chime in.

The feed back I have gotten on a similar type build, Im going with castle 2028 esc and a ice 200hv esc speed controller.I would fit a thin sheet of plexy over your hatch opening. and tape it in place, then remove the needed about from your hatch to still fit nice and tape it over the well taped down sheet of plexy.I am also coming over from gas, and all the feedback I have gotten is you do not want your electrics to get get wet at all.

            thank for the quick reply,
bwells, my cat is 42 inch long 8 inch wide in tunnell and weigh 5 lbs just hull.

doby, $600 for now and later down the road i can save for somemore.

properchopper, thank for the info, water is a problem with it all i was going to install a flat top under the cowling to tape off for water. from what i'm reading look like i'll be dropping down the a smaller hull

expresscraft, already in progress with the plexis but i was going to use a peice of 1/16th plywood

yes raydee,,the same one when we talked a while back about electric riggers, got hooked on the gas so now i'm getting to itch of electric agian, look like it while over my budget to power this cat hull, so thinking about going back the the .21 size electric.

Yeah big hull's cost a lot to run them unless you want to go 40mph. I had three large 45" hulls that I was going to build and each time I tried something came out and my budget didn't allow the build. For me it looks like I have to stick with the Sport 21 and 45 hulls. This winter I am going to "try" to build a new Sport 21 hydro and a 45 size rigger for next season but I will have to see what my budget will allow.

                      Jeff,

Excuse me for on more time poking my nose into this thread as I'm unqualified to offer any assistance in converting large gas hulls to electric. Just want to say that I concur with your decision to consider .21 size electric as a sensible one and a good (and affordable) way to experience FE. Here in NAMBA D19 there's been a welcome upswing in FE participation from the gas/nitro crowd. This past year two FE classes were available during the traditionally all IC events; P-Ltd Sport Hydro and P-Mono. Lots of racing resulted for us FE nuts. Also, a P-Ltd Catamaran exhibition class was included with a SCSTA event and it was a hoot - hope to homologate that class in the near future as well. The P-Ltd class power packages for .21 size boats won't break the bank and racing them is a really good time. You'll find a ton of help here getting started in that direction.

proprchopper, and everyone else, it's all good, i need to learn from someone, just need to thank everyone that commented on my post. i do understand that most guys want to help but dont want to tell someone, what to buy, because of the simple fact, if it burn up they won
t be blamed. so, what i'm looking for is a good set-up to play with in a rigger something i'm useto building. need batteries, charger, esc, and motor for .21 size rigger or a 45size rigger-sport-40. this will be mostly play
