Rudder question

If I was going to build a twin, with a couple of short 3/16 stingers, off from a flat backed transom,no jut out in the middle, what would be the best rudder, one close to the hull or one back say 3.5 inches or so? I really would like some advise on wich rudder would be best on this setup.

Got any pics and which hull are you doing?Size and such. It is generally best to keep the rudder in line with the props.
