I heard it might be possible to use other brushless esc's and water cool them with a plate shrink wrapped around it. Is this true. I am building a boat and want better than a castle or swordfish, but want the quality of a schltze without the heft price tag. Am i asking for too much?
does it have to be a marine esc???

Sure you can do that, folks do it alot. I know one guy in Holland that buys only aircraft ESC's and makes his own plates and heatshrinks them on. There's really no difference. You can buy cooling plates here on OSE.NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE:http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

The OP says he wants the quality of a Schulze for less money, doesn't want a Castle, but he buys a Swordfish? Where's the disconnect here? Every Swordfish I've seen in the club over the past 18 months has failed.....so a virtually untried 300 amp version is going to be fine? Why do some folks think they need a 300 amp controller for 10S but not for 4S? Good luck.
