Fightercat 300a 2-8S ESC blow up

You guys helped me a lot with my set up. Running a Neu 1527/1Y/S in a SS45. The ESC has run hot from day one. I backed the timing down to 7 today and on the second lap she blew. Motor and batts were at 96 degrees. Running this at 5S2P. The cooling system sucks. I could barely blow water through the cooling lines. What really sucks is Ben does not answer emails. I should have stuck with something reputable like Castle. Live and learn, right!

The good thing is I have 2 ESC's on the way. Now I'll be able to see the boats real potential. That Fightercat has been a problem from day one.

What prop were you running on the 1527? What cells were you running? What are the new ESCs?

Ben has not been associated with Fightercat for some time - so no surprise he doesn't answer.

Running a X452. Correction on batts. 6S2P hyperion ex's. I have a Castle Hydra ice 2 and a Swordfish 240 on their way. From day one when I'd hook the batteries up there was that distinct electrical burn smell. It gradually got worse. Today was a huge pop. I don't know much about this hobby. So I ask you guys on this forum for advice. And so far it's been great. I believe the ESC was trash from the beginning.

As long as the boat was running clean and not too wet that setup should be pulling less than 160 amps average. We use 15* of timing advance. That is a common setup in my club, I too suspect the original ESC was the problem.

Yes, it seems that these esc's may not have been 100% waterproof or close to it.

                I always add extra.

Sorry for your loss, that is a real bummer.

At least you have a nice pair of esc's coming.

                    OW, sorry...

Thats even worse. Sell the cooling plates?

I mean are they hollowed out coolers or just 3 holes drilled & 1 filled?

Do you want it? Single cooling plate with Fightercat symbol stamped on it. 2 water ports.

Since it's postage only I think a gift applies here.

It said if you send it in a regular envelope (wrap it in a sheet of paper first) it can go as letter "rigid object" for about 2 bucks.

                              I sent you Five.
