Flex Shaft length and Motor Placement

OK guys so working on my new 1/10 modern hydro build.
I will be using a 3/16" shaft and trying to figure out where exactly I am going to place the motor.
Wondering if a longer flex will be ok and if I run motor further forward and batteries further back then normal to adjust the CG will it be ok?

Seams most of the time the motors are placed somewhere in the center or slightly forward of the center, thinking of maybe putting it 85-90% forward on this boat if it would work would help make keeping the drive line within specs and be able to have some adjustment on the angle and height will really help I think.

What is the max length you think a 3/16" flex would be ok at?

Trying to make everything fit in the confined quarters is sometimes difficult on these....

Thats the 1 you got from Darin he set it up with a small wire drive interesting.
Can you post a pic of bottom of the boat so I can see the length/angle of the drive shaft and strut.

I am thinking of going more like 17" from transom batteries would be in front of that.

Having it any further forward just doesn't seam like a good idea now that I think of it but could possibly be made to work...

I just measured my vintage boat and it is set at 17" and uses a 1/8" wire drive.

            Thanks for the picks.
The break on my boat is a lot more further forward then this boat.
Seams the strut is also at a big angle on your boat do you know the angle on the ride surface or what the sponson depth is on it?
