New guy with a OSE PURSUIT MONO on the way needs advise please

Im jumping into the IMPBA FE class with a pursuit mono, i really know very little about the FE stuff so any advise would be greatly appreciated ?The 3 gas boats i have were race ready when i got them so this will be my 1st time mounting and hooking up the servo and rod.. I would like to have everything i need when it arrives.. What is a good servo for this and will i need a servo mount and if so which is the best to have ? also will I need the rod to connect the servo to the rudder ? and where would i get one and any idea what thickness and legth i need ?Anyone have any prop recomendations ? Lastly im going to need a couple good 65c batteries,i have 2 of the venom 4c hardpacks that are 35c-70c burst, will they work or do i need a constant 65c and if so which would you recomend ?... Im in district 12 of the Impba and Plan on doing 1 more race this year, any and all help and advise is REALLY appreciated so i dont mess this up when it arrives.... thanks

    1. What motor does it have, size and kv
    2. What mah are the lipos, and are they 4s(14.8v) not the 4c you wrote?
    3. Do you need a radio and reciever as well?
NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

Looks like this member just bought the latest version Steven sells here @ OSE. Leo 4082, 2200kv, Seaking 180 ESC. ( In the F/S Section )
Yes, you need a radio and a receiver plus a good ( high torque) standard sized servo. I believe the boat comes with a servo mount, you don't need to worry about that.
Don't know if Rudder rod is included, but you can get them here: http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...ts+%26+Linkage , I like the 4-40 rods as they are stiffer, but mine has 2-56 which I find a bit too flexible.
As for servo, I like Futaba S3305, it is still very reasonably priced, but it is not water proof. Hi-Tec has truly water proof servos ( 5646WP/646WP) but beware that they are just a hair bigger than the so-called standard servo, if the mount is made for the latter ones you may have some difficulties fitting them in. Here is the OSE page: http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...ol+Accessories
I use Sky lipo 4s 5000mah 40c batteries and I use two packs of 4s in PARALLEL. ( 4s2p). I think with the 2200kv motor you will be happier with 4s2p. I know Steven recommands 65C since the set up is for a single 4s ( 4s1p) , ultimately it is your call. I do know 4s2p would give a bit longer run time, but for your first run you should bring the boat in under 2 min. or just i min. to check temp. You are not going to worry about run time at least for the first run.
I use m445 prop, sometimes when cooler weather i go to m 545. x442 and x642 worked for me, you need to try them out gradually.
p.s., you will love this boat, and Steven has the boat spec'ed out great, wish I have this version. For giggles, here is a short clip of mine running. Same motor/ESC set ep, but the rest is not as good as the one you are getting. ( I bought used and I believe is a HobbyKing version with up grade to motor /ESC, etc.)

btw, the link to the Servo on OSE's page is not working, just look at home page and go into that catagory.

The batteries i have ( i have 2 of them i run in my 1/8 late model ) are the venom-5000 mah -14.8v 4cell-they are 35c with the 70c burst and are the roar approved hard packs...I have a radio and spare recievers, I have been using the flysky-gt3b in my gas boats with excellent results.

I have that same setup in my Pursuit, I use a Traxxas 2075 High Torque Waterproof servo, Steven sells them here on OSE.

It will probably come with the rod. You can even see a piece of it in Steven's photo of the boat. I have the previous version and it came with the rod. The Traxxas 2075 waterproof servo works well for me but I'm not a racer. I got a gps'd 51mph on my boat with the m445 but 4074 2000kv motor. With your 2200kv motor I would think your boat will be faster yet. I think you will be very happy with this boat

Boat arrived and looks great but did not come with servo mount ? has little tray installed in it but without a mount there is no way to attach it ? anyone have one of these that could recomend a servo mount that will work ? thanks

A tie wrap or two should do the trick. You could use a little double sided foam tape or velcro on the bottom in addition to the tie wrap.

Well I just looked at the photo of the updated ones and it appears to not be setup the same as the previous version so I guess you will have to get a mount after all. The previous version had a wooden mounting area for servo and rx.

Might have to pull a bit harder.

As for the servo mount its there, but no longer wood. Its fiberglass and near the transom in the center. if you take a servo and lay it in there you will find the place it fits. then a tie wrap around it.
