Why are there different length water jackets?

I am looking at the Leopard 4092 and under it they are offering a free water jacket. Great but there are 3 sizes listed. Why would I not want the most cooling? Or is it that some would want less weight? if so what one should I get sense it is going in a fairly small boat.

    Thanks for any help.

They list all the jackets that fit 40 series motors ie 4074,4082.4092. A different length jacket for different length motor cans. Also depending on motor mounts fitted in a particular boat, you may fit a longer motor in a mount but where the jacket fits inbetween the end plate & the support ring you are limited on length of jacket you can use on certain mounts.

Okay that makes sense so I would guess for the Traxxas Spartan I would get the 40X76.
      Thanks

I dont have a Spartan but looking at the pics of them you should be ok as the motor only mounts on the end cap of the motor with no support at the other end of the motor. That quite a lot of weight just mounting on one end of the motor ecspecially for the mount bracket, i know they mount 4082 motors ok so the extra motor length & weight may not be a problem.
