    1/4 to 3/16th

Guys I am looking into a mod and need some advice. What can I do in order to reduce a skeg strut for 1/4 inch shaft to 3/16th? I need some options please.
    Thanks
    Tom

I use thick walled stainless steel inserts to reduce 1/4-inch drive props down to 3/16-inch. ID is a perfect 0.1875 OD is 0.25. Then your 0.187 brass bushing should fit right inside. You can also look for thick walled brass as well.

This is on a boat I have with 0.25 drive and stepped down to 0.187 at the shaft. But I sometimes run gas props with 0.25 ID on them on this boat.

Normal K&S tubing can be a problem since the 20.187 ID stuff is not close enough to 0.25 inch to work.

So, just look for some tubing that fits both dimensions.

Sorry, can't tell you where I got the SS I use. It was scrap in my shop and I have no idea where I got it. I think it was left over from some stuff I did at work.

Thanks Bill. OSE has stainless I have to check what the dimentions are. I'm still mulling over the entire project but a little research never hurts.

Sounds like it. You need tubing that is dead on 0.25 OD and 0.187 ID. It's out there, but I don't know where to point you.

Not sure what you are trying to do, but why not consider running 0.25 drive line and using a cable that has the step down to 0.187 for the prop? I've got a couple of boats set up that way. Using the 1/4" cable and running 3/16th props.
