    SOCAL Boat Races

Just a reminder that the 2-lap time trials are coming up at Legg Lake in 1.5 weeks (May 17-18). And the weekend after that there is a gas boat race at the model yacht pond in Mission Bay in San Diego.

The 2-lap is open to all boats, FE, Gas, Nitro and just requires NAMBA membership or paying the $10 1-time NAMBA event fee (plus other entry fees).

The gas boat race will see 50 or so racers with gas boats in a dozen or so classes, including the HUGE Thunderboats!! These are 50"+ monster models of Classic Thunderboats running stock Zenoah 260 engines. Still they get up to 55 mph and really tear up the water.

So 2 cool boat events in the next 3 weeks.

        re :

Well Bro here's the shot : I beleive Bill got one record, and I posted 2 : P-Mono & P-Offshore. These were " benchmark" records as their were no previous records on the books for 2-lap. I'm sure before the glue holding them to my wall is dry,
they'll be blown away at the Nat's by the more experienced racers. Fun, tho, while it lasts !!

          But not without a fight

FWIW, I posted the inaugural T-Mono NAMBA FE 2-Lap number of 26.71 seconds. Then my motor and ESC went

For comparison the similar size gas boat records are 26.08 for G-1 mono and 26.55 for GX-1 mono. I only got the one shot before the magic smoke got let out

Oh, and the IMPBA T-Mono 2-Lap record is held by Paul Pachmayer at 23.929 seconds!!!! So I had some ground to make up!!! 2.78 seconds is a LONG time!!!

But I'll have that boat back in the water in plenty of time for the NATS!!!

Bill, I wasn't implying that your accomplishment will be tread upon. You have the stones, my Brother, to run in a realm where few dare to tread. Me on the other hand, well let's say , I could use some driving lessons !

                Congrats indeed!

                Bill and Tony,

It was great putting faces with screen names last Sunday when I meet you guys.

Thanks for allowing me to tag along and glean some wisdom from the both of you.

I hope to get out to Legg Lake again when you two are around and maybe even get a couple of my boats wet.

Congrats again on the records, and may they stand a lot longer then you expect!

                Brad

PS. Bill have you recovered from the loss of the fine German equipment?
