    New Guy Boat

I'm a new guy scratch builder. I do airplanes, helis, and now boats to keep busy. I couldn't resist scaling down an Atlas Van Lines by Gary Finlay to 24 inches long. Now the question is what size and type hardware? I'm thinking a 28MM brushless motor, 60 amp ESC with 2200 - 3000 LiPo and a 1/8 inch flex drive. Need some feed back. I don't know anything about driving or racing but want something to look nice at the local town lake in Austin. IMG_2969.jpg

Nice build! A 28 mm motor is pretty small. A 36mm motor running on 2S would power that hull nicely. We run hydros that size with 3500 Kv Fiegao 7L motors on 2S packs with m440 props and get low 40s for speed. 80 to 120 amp ESCs work fine.

To stay with your 28mm desire, and to keep things on the compact size, this 4 pole Leopard would really make that boat scream, consider the 2.5D or 3D for 2s and the 2Y for 3s. The 2860 is just as powerful as the 3650 if not a smidge more.

Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions. My next steps are to epoxy the inside and foam the sponsons. Still trying to fight my way through the mm and inch hardware. Lots of stuff for the 4mm size but also 3/16th and 1/8 inch.
