how to waterproof transom

Is there a product that seals the through hull transom bolts and fittings with out using glue? I want to be able to disassemble it in the future. Do you guy's use some sort of bedding compound?
Thanks

I just use rtv sealer from the autoparts store, its cheap and works well. It also can be removed without damage to the finish of the hull.
