Any good how to's or ideas on cleaning out a BL motor?

I have a Leo 4076 that has been under a few times, pulled it apart and a slight color of rust all through the inside. The motor started making a "I'm dry lube me" kind of noise as well.

Looking at it I would think spraying it down with wd40 or similar would probably take care of it for me but I. Don't want to damage it as. I don't think it's designed for a coat of wd lol.

Once I get the internals figured out, reassembly, does it require any grease/lube on the bearing?

    Thanks for the help.

Just use Corrosion X, wonderfull stuff for motors & speed controllers. Spray inside the motor & let drain out, also use some light oil on the ballbearings.

If it is making noises, that may mean that the bearings are already rusted and will soon self-destruct. Stick a pencil in each bearing and rotate pushing hard - if it feels gritty, get new ones, they are relatively cheap. Leopard bearings are not the best in the first place...
