    Watercooling Finned Neu

Well it is official! The cooler designed for the finned Castle 1515 DOES NOT fit the finned Neu 1515. I bought one to give it a try since there was no one who could/would answer the question. You would either need to machine the cooler and buy new o-rings, machine the fins and use the supplied o-rings, machine off all of the fins and buy a different cooler, or machine your own cooler.

    Chris,
I don’t normally solicit here on the forum out of respect for Steven but, seeing the problem you have I can make a jacket for you. Drawback is I would need the motor in hand for a proper fit and flow test. If you need that particular motor for your build and are willing to send the motor let me know.

I would rather machine off all of the fins except the 2 outside ones. The 2 outer ones will still need to be turned down to a smaller diameter than the ID of the cooler, thought it would be nice to have them hold the o-rings while I slide the cooler on from one direction. I just need to get out to the shop and get it done. Not really sure how I am going to hold the motor though......

          Chris,

I have made carbon jackets fit by machining one fin on either side down to make a O-ring gland on either side.

Hey Chris, can you help me out here, I dont know much about these motors, except they seem to go well, so I just got two of them, they say neu- castle on the box green in color, designed by steve neu and castle creations. I figured the canes would probally not work on the traxxas black motors, so I stayed away from them and wanted these anyway, am I in the same boat as you, or no boat I should say, lol, Shawn.

Shawn, the cooler I bought is the one that is designed for your motor, assuming it is the 1515. If you want mine, I will sell it for $20 shipped (I'm out the shipping costs) and I will just make my own cooler.

Its a 1515 green finned, but I am confused on this, I have seen green 1515 and black 1515 out of a traxxas, my box says neu castle, is it neu or castle?

I have a Neu 1515. You have a Castle. You can get the Castle in green or black, they are 2 different part numbers.

I don't think any are "better", the Neu would just be higher quality.
