    Aeromarine Sprint Cat

Hey guys, I'd like to share with you this Aeromarine Sprint Cat 34 that I rescued off Craigslist.
Its got an OPS 15cc nitro motor that I want out of my life. Anyone convert one of these? I think I remember Mike Paggs doing well with one. Any suggestions?

Do not misinterpret my post. I'm not lost on this thing, I know darn well what will work in it, I just want some feedback from anyone familiar with them or who has converted one to electric..

Anyone on earth who wants this gas guzzler motor make me an offer..

    Bill,

If you search for SprintCat here on OSE you will find several dozen builds. We have 4 just in my club running in Q Offshore.

You beat me to that question. What do trim tabs do when mounted on the tunnel section of a cat? Not much is my quess.

Fluid is one of the top 5 most knowledgable rc boaters the world over in my opinion.
If he's got them on there I strongly believe he's getting a signifigant benefit from them.
I agree that in our conventional thinking they seemingly wouldn't have much benefit, but I've seen AMAZING things come from Fluid when it comes to these cats..

I just want to know exactly WHAT they're doing for him..

They are a SAW-only mod where they help keep the bow down.

Fluid, are you saying they work? Not trying to be argumentive here just trying to understand. These are not air damns and as such probably located in the wrong place. There should be no water touching these tabs at speed and if you have stubbled on to something effective I would have expected to see more of them before now. Just saying.

Not answering for him by any means, but air assistance has a serious affect on cats.
To me it looks like the tabs keep the air trapped past the length of the hull creating the air pocket of a longer boat thus keeping the nose down.
Otherwise if given negative angle, I can see where they could direct air downward either raising the back or pulling the nose down (aeleron affect)

Wilmer has it pretty close. The tabs act like elevators on aircraft, deflecting the high velocity air exiting the tunnel. Oddly only a few SAW racers use them....

Ok, I see the "SAW ONLY" part. I bet the affect gets more exaggerated starting at about 65mph..
