    Grease

I'm new to RC boating and need to get some grease for the flex cable. I own a boat and have grease for my 1:1 two stroke. Can I use this grease or is the hobby stuff of a different grade?

Has anyone ever soldered in a grease fitting?

Some large scale gas stuff I've looked at has grease fittings. Some guys use shaft oilers.
I don't think there is really that much point to grease fittings. You still have to pull out the shaft at the end of the day to dry it or it will rust. With the oiler you can run a much lighter oil for a bit lower drag as the feed is constant. Never tried one, only run smaller boats now and have enough space problems for the things I need to fit in there! I could also see a cheap one leaking and causing a nitro style mess in the hull.
I use plain old marine grease from the auto parts store cut slightly with 90 wt outboard motor gear oil. Cheap, been using it for a long time low with no problems ever.
Depending on how much I run a boat in a day I might grease the cable once during the day maybe after 7 or 8 runs.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
