    Boat Waxing

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but can I use automotive wax on my boats paint? Or does it half to be marine wax? It is custom paint. Thanks for your help.

if youre running in saltwater marine wax might be better, but for fresh water use, automotive wax should work just fine

Wax on top & sides, scotch brite pad for the bottom, give it a good scuffing. Wax on the bottom increases drag. Scuffing lowers drag.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

LOL, wait for the first scratch then do it, won't feel so bad then!
I've seen some amazing paint jobs on boats, but with taping hatches, loading and unloading, running them etc I don't have at least a couple good scratches on every boat.
I used to worry about trying to get the perfect paint job, now it's one high visibility color and some vinyl graphics & stickers with automotive 2 part urethane clear coat.
Stuff is tough as nails, protects the paint better than anything I've found on the market that I can easily spray without a full space suit.

I guess once it gets scratched I will lol. Marine wax isn't good for the bottom either??

I'm not sure if there is any proof on the hull scratching. You don't have to do this. how people claim that wax sticks to water....considering its designed to repel water..... still boggles me...

Has to do with laminar flow. Breaking up the flow a bit frees up the boat from the water. This is the reason why boats put steps in the hull (although in real boats stepped hull boats tend to blow more ourselves lol)

I'll just leave the bottom without and do the sides and top.
