What is the best way to have 5.5 bullets

I am in the process of changing my batteries over to 5.5, Is the best way to make all the batteries female and esc male, or have one of each so you don't hook things up backwards.

I run all my batteries with the female bullet on positive and male on negative. This way it's easier if you want to run the batteries in series. Just have to VERY careful hooking them up that you don't connect the pos and neg of the same battery together. I have a couple bullets with burn marks on them from doing that.
A guy we run with does them with females on both pos and neg of the batteries. Makes it hard to borrow stuff from each other though.
I guess it's personal preference and what you feel comfortable with.

Thats how I wanted to kind of do it, I thought it was kind of silly to put both the same on battery or esc side, then take a chance off hooking them up backwards.

Like marko described the "red-hot female" approach is a very popular configuration. I personally run them this way and it makes it very easy to run in series, but as he said, you have to pay close attention when connecting em up.

Not much to argue with here. I researched and by far the most popular method is as you described, battery=positive=female, and since I almost always configure my battery packs in series this is definately the way I go. I have seen some guys heat shrink a small band of yellow on the ends that connect to the ESC to help quickly prevent careless mistakes. Another direction I am considering is using different size connectors for positive connections like 8mm on the hot side and 5.5 on the negitive side, because eventually I will convert everything to 8mm. Perhaps it only matters if you think you might borrow or share your batteries with another boater.

I also use the "red hot female" configuration... Works for all my RC stuff that uses bullets.
