    New Here..

New here and new to be to boating....I have a couple of Slash 4x2 and 4x4 and a Blitz sc trucks....so although i will be new to RC boats...I am not totally green to RC in general....but I also am FAR from a professional...I just enjoy RCing for fun for now...

I live on a private lake, there are couple of private backyard sc tracks that we all used to hit up...now it seems like everyone is moving to the water... a few of my buddies have picked up some Spartans, theres a Mystic, and also a couple stilletos...

That being said, I am now looking to get into it....like i said above this is just for fun..so i am not looking for any crazy builds...i want something RTR thats somewhat fast and reliable...I do live on a lake that allows real boats, so the water in the main lake can get pretty choppy...but for the most part the boat will be ran in smaller coves or parts of the mainlake with small roller waves...i think the spartans are ugly and dont really care for any other mono hulls...I THINK i am leaning towards a cat, unless i get talked outta it...right now the MG is at the top of my list...with the mystic there also...just trying to get the opinions of these boats and maybe others that maybe in this category??

My price range is $300 - $500 (new or used), I dont necessarily need a charger, but I would be looking to get two fresh lipos also...

    Thoughts? Suggestions??

Where in CA are you located? Go with a Mystic, great boat for the price. I do recommend the poly-quest lipos. I use them in my 1/8th scale hydro.

      What about the Motley Crew?

It seems the Mystic is set up better outta the box then the MG, but being that someone has a mystic in my group already, thats why i was kinda leaning towards the MG...the mystic looks kinda plain to me, but I havent bought anything yet, just trying to get ideas first...

      I live near lake elsinore....

The MG is a great boat, but I know a few people that had to modify theirs with larger components. The Motley Crew from Aquacraft is also a great boat. It looks like the MC runs the UL-1 motor at 1800KV. That thing will tear up the lake.

Does the MC need the hatch taped every run? I kinda like the hatch design on the proboats if they work well?

Howdy and Welcome Aboard Our club; SoCal FE RC Raceboat Club usually runs at Legg Lake in South El Monte and meets in Lake Forest from time to time at a private lake. http://socalfastelectrics.teamsnap.com/ We have MG's, MC's and much more in our ranks. Come play with us ! (OK, Elsinore's a little far, but...). I personally favor the MC, but any of the new rtr's are getting really good, including the monos from Proboat and AQ. What do you guys think of this boat/accescories and price?? I know the hull is cracked, but I am pretty sure I could close that up with a little AC / tire glue....like most of you, i do have a "financial advisor"....so I am trying to keep the initial price down

                    Welcome to OSE Bart.

If your lake gets choppy you might want to consider a monohull over a cat as they handle the rough stuff a bit better. The Proboat Impulse 31 and Aquacraft Revolt are basically the equals of the PB Miss Geico/Mystic/Blackjack 29 and the AQ Motley Crew. Regardless of which you choose, you'll likely be happy with any of these boats, all have their pros and cons, but in the end all are good quality, fun, and fast.

Well its been about a year since I posted this here....a lot of things went on between now and then...my interest in the RC boating world never really left...but my budget took quite a huge dip...so I just ended up this weekend picking up a Miss Geico 24...I haven't took it out yet, probably will maybe this evening...I know its a far cry from the boats I was originally looking at...buy hey, its a start right?
