Watts Up analyser or Eagle Tree Data Logger?

I think I need one of these devices but which one? I understand the Eagle Tree can do more but what I need for now is to discover what my current demand (amperage) is to see where I stand with my setup and prop selection plus put my mind to ease regarding my ESC limits. When I hit the lottery then I will get a Castle Ice with its built in data logger. My concern is I know I am pulling over 100 amps but how much more. I run 6S offen and just ordered 8S.

I have a Eagle tree system for sale at the moment, it's only been used a few times and the info it's given me is priceless. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...tem&highlight=

      Hi Dave et all,

Here is another option from left field

The Hyperion Emeter has many useful features & the data can be downloaded into the hand held Emeter for instant display on the LCD screen - volts, amps, watts, all graphed on a timeline so you can see all the action that was going on. The remote unit (RDU) also has an inbuilt altimeter which is a very handy feature for we modellers who also dabble in the rc aircraft area.

I do have the Eagletree stand-alone altimeter that plugs into a spare receiver channel for dc power & it works a treat. Both altitude readings from the Eageltree & the Emeter were within 1 metre of each other which indicates the calibration was identical

I don't own an Eagle Tree complete system but I do have the Emeter. Even so, I cant say this "one is better than that one" other than simply bring the Emeter to your attention.

Do you know how much the E METER retails for?

Here is a link to an Australian re-seller of Hyperion stuff. I have purchased items off this guy before - he is very reputable & well known in the Aussie modelling world.

As you can see, the Emeter & RDU currently retailing for $180 AUD - you would need to add shipping to USA - which wont be very expensive as the Emeter package is small

I have been running the Eagletree for 10 years on 4s to 8s and 372 amps in Riggers and Sport Hydros.
It is nice to see new devices coming out but I haven't seen anything yet that compares to the E/T for my racing.

                Is it user friendly?

Very user friendly, cool software. Best thing I ever got for electric boats Makes figuring out the best prop easy.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I started off with a Watts up meter. But it's very limited. I own both the eagletree eloggerv4 and air logger. They have options for just about anything you'd want, GPS being one of them. Definitely worth the money seeing how much replacing an esc would cost you.

Have you thought about a Swordfish Plus ESC with data logging?
Current, Voltage, Wattage, RPM, Temperature graphs versus time for each run are stored, all without having to add anything to the boat?

Yes, it is posted here on OSE. Easy 15 min. mod.

Okay, I have tried to search for the mod and haven't been successful so far. Any link to help me?

I start out saying okay I can justify 70 bucks or so for a data logger and then I find used Eagle Tree setups with extra sensors for sale in the $200.00 range. At that point I start to say the Castle ICE is a better deal. What am I missing?

                              Dave,
I don't believe that there is a "mod" to add data logging to the Swordfish ESC. You need to purchase the new "Plus" model (available here on OSE) for $90 (the 120A) or $120 (the 200A). That's what I did.
