Hi guys, does anyone have a you tube link as how to CF a RC boat hull, you know coat the inside of it?

I don't have a link however, I just did that to mine and I would cut the mat to fit and scuff up the inside a bit with rough paper. Then lay the mat in there where it fits and looks good and pour over top of that your choice of material. I used fiberglass resin. A small diam. roller would work best to spread out the liquid. Just enough to wet the mat . Try not to let the mat move on you. You may even want to use some drops of thin CA in strategic locations to tack the mat before you pour, don't overdo that though. I am sure others with much more experiance will get in here for you. Good luck with it.
I tried to lay down a basecoat of resin on mine and it didn't go so well for me, mat didn't come out straight and when I moved it it tried to seperate a bit. That is why I post the above. :-)

Did you do up the sides in the sponsoons or mostly the flat surface?

boat motor mount.jpginside.jpgI did a big V bottom. The mat I bought was bigger squares. I have some more coming for other projects that is 2x2 twill. Will do the same. You can see in the pics how it moved.

That looks nice, I just ordered some of the 2x2 carbon kevlar hybrid stuff off from ebay, where did you get yours?

I take a tape measure and put it into the hull and bend it as necessary to get a measurement. I then measure out the length I want. On a flat table I measure out with a ruler the material to be used- glass or carbon.

For the monos I then take the cut cloth and I folder it up like a taco, put it down on the v. Even it up side to side then I kinda roll each side down inward. This allows me to position the cloth better. I pull it to the back then get my resin around. I use 20 minute finishing resin. I probably should use a foam roller however Ive been using the cheap "chip brushes". Every now and then I get a piece of brush hair that comes off...

Just do enough that it looks wet. Dont let it pool up! Try not to work the edges to hard as the weave will unravel some.

Yeah if you don't look too close. Those squares are big , they are a little over 1/4" square. I got it from a fiberglass place on the net. I got a build link in the build section if you want to see. Vanquish with Castle 1717 on six s 2p I hope.

I doesnt hut to go up on the monos. Thats the seam anyhow.

I got mine off E bay but I didnt get that large stuff. I bought mine 6 years ago. Its a much tighter/smaller weave. This will allow it to conform to more complex shapes as well and stay down better while drying.

I have another hull to work on one of these days (1 meter Osprey) and for that I bought the carbon fiber/ kevlar stuff. I bought that from Kintec as its good value and the stuff we need to use.
