    tp5058 motors

anyone have anything good to say about these beasts rated for 12000 watts capable? any one try one yet?

i was going to buy a lehner 3080-7 750kv for my next project but this alternative is much cheaper...i know the lehner is way up on the high end scale but the price is too..i wonder if i will regret buying a tp 5058 or just save up and get the lehner...i know what i am getting with the lehner at least but if i could save 450.00 and still get similar performance then its a win for the tp5058..my guess is the tp will run hotter kind of like the leopards do vs an neu..this motor would be going in an mmp watersnake hull which is 54 inches long for 12s2p

You should change your thread title to TP-5850.

Although the Lehner 3080 is perhaps king of the large high end motors, a Castle 2028 is on par with the kv you are looking for at 1/3 the cost. That is unless you were planning on running the 3080/7 wired as a Wye. IMO 750 or 780 kv is awfully hot for 12S. I would recommend no more than 10S2P for the 3080/7 as a Delta wind and the Castle motor runs great on 8S2P swinging gas size props.

The 50mm motors are not going to compare to a 3080/7. The closests matches are Neu 2230/2225, Castle 2028 and Leo 5692.

Point taken...will need a fairly big prop and i do not want a smelly hull
Probably be worth saving for the castle or lehner and be happy the first go around

I got my numbers messed up sorry jay

No biggie, I just spent ten minutes surfing for a non-existent motor. Should have figured it was a typo sooner....

Tyler is right, the 2028 is a very good motor for 10S...
