    Stuffing tube

Can I please get some step by step directions on how to make the hole and how long a hole for stuffing tube, should you have strut on first? Doing first build, I feel pretty good about the whole thing, except this part, most everything else is easy to change, the tube seems kinda a one shot deal, so I want to get it rite. Any help would be great, thanks.

30 inch sprintcat knockoff, from ebay, nice hull, cheap, figured it would be good for first build.

          Here's what I do:

          - mount the strut on the transom
          - mount the motor at the angle you want
          - put a short piece of 3/16" (or 0.150" or whatever) rod into the motor coupler to see where to start the stuffing tube hole
          - cut the hole in the hull for the tube, it will be ~1-1.2" long; make the cut a little large, you'll fill it later; I use a short piece of larger tube to glue into the hull
          - position the stuffing tube/strut assembly through the hole
          - run the shaft or another piece of rod through the coupler and the stuffing tube
          - make sure things are properly lined up - go for perfect
          - put tape around the hole on the outside of the hull to keep glue inside
          - glue an O ring around the hole with CA
          - fill the O ring with JB Weld
          - let set undisturbed for 24 hours

That should get you going. Here's a photo of an install I did last week.

I don't know about anyone else but I mount both the strut and the motor and use them as a jig.
Once you have them mounted it's pretty easy to tell were the tube goes.
            Is the tube Pre bent?

Jay, do you know what size the smaller tube in the 1/4 tube is, that helps keep water out correct?

The flex cable runs through 1/4" brass tubing. The larger tubing is glued into the hull so that the 1/4" stuffing tube can be removed for precision bending adjustments without putting the tubing in tension. On my cats I don't get water in the hull through the stuffing tube.

So if you should damage the stuffing tube, you can simply pull it out of the larger one and put a new one in?
