Getting fed up with this boat and brushless stuff NEED HELP PLEASE! !!!!!!!!!

Ok here is the deal fellas I either need some help or I need a new hobby. I have burnt up 2 speed controllers and 2 motors already it looks like. I am at this point right now I have a apparition hull from HOR Racing and I installed a Nue 2200 kv motor 540 XL. I tried running a seaking 120 and burnt it up so I think, My dumb butt hooked up a receiver pack when I thought I needed it not realizing that it had a BEC circuit so now I am thinking I hurt the esc. The batteries are hooked up in series 2) 4000 Mah 2s40C packs for a total of 4 cells. I am running a 40 MM carbon prop now for testing, thinking I wouldn't over load motor and esc.

So today I wired up the 120A Turnigy marine Esc and hook it up with no receiver pack since its got a BEC and the receiver and servo works but I get no sound from the motor and no response from the motor.

Problems I now have we will start with the Turnigy marine 120 ESC
    1) new out of the box I have no instructions
    2) I bought the USB linker and downloaded the programing instructions, and the drivers for the usb linker........the drivers do not work. I cannot program the ESC it times out
    3) I have no Idea if the ESC needs to have power from batteries while pluged into usb on computer or not????

Setup problems motor KV and sizing am I in the ballpark for motor cell count and ESC?

So at this point I am very frustrated and I just want to run the damn thing with no issues not looking to break and speed records I just want a good reliable fairly fast 40-45 mph range boat. I am very disappointed in the support from hobby king and its garbage. I am about ready to buy a castle creations setup motor and ESC and call it good but I am sick to death about wasting money. I just need some help with this can build a full size boat can machine just about anything and can do just about anything but this thing is kicking my butt. I havent had this much problem with my 38 Scarab full size boat and its got a ton more to deal with.

How can I check the esc's and motors?

You won't get any joy from hobby king with regards to warranty. You pay the cheap price you take your chance I'm afraid. Personally I would have gone with a proper RTR boat from AQ or proboat. This way you will have a good warranty and it's pretty much plug and play. If you stick with the apperition then maybe copy some proven setups like maybe a leopard 4074 2200kv with a turnigy marine 180a esc. Unfortunately with this hobby it's never a case of plug it in and it's perfect. Even RTR boats need setting up to some degree. I've had times when I think it's costing me loads of money and I'm getting nowhere but also I had days out where the boat has run awesome and ive come home with a massive smile on my face. Often learning the hobby can be pricey and time consuming, you just need patience im afraid.

step one, take a deep breath inhale ...... now exhale.... step two there is not a usb programmable option with the turnigy 120 marine esc(t120). Every t 120 esc i've ever seen came in a sealed bag with the instructions included, not in a box, maybe that was just an expression. If for some reason you lost your instructions you can easily get them in pdf form from hobbykings site. Simply go to the same page you clicked the add to cart button, scroll down a bit further and click the files tab, there you will find an unnamed file which is the instruction manual. Back to programming, you have two options, first is you can program with the transmitter , second there is a programming box available. Both options require power to the esc.

Motor size and kv are fine. Have you reversed the throttle channel on your tx? Also you need to calibrate the tx to the esc. The manual describes, in detail how to do this.

First off i forgot to change the tx to reverse from normal. I probly missed that from frustration. Is the box that you use for the seaking also good for the turnigy marine esc as far as programming?

yes they use the same box, at least as far as i know. Sometime the turnigy esc's like to have the throttle reversed, just try both. I know all of mine the, 120 amp and 180 amp version only work with the throttle setting reversed.

KISS. Keep it stupid simple, or keep it simple stupid. These things can be frustrating at times but they are really not too complicated, you should be able to get yours going. Good luck

Not true, I've returned a couple of esc's over the last few years with no issues. They now even have a Washington return address.

I'm only speaking from my own experience. Had a battery DOA. Filled out the warranty code form and contacted them and nothing! I didn't chase them because it says in their t&c's that if you aren't prepared to send puffed batteries back to them then tough basically! Who in their right mind would send a puffed battery onto a plane? How many months did you wait to get your esc's back? Plus a Washington return address is no good when I live in the UK!

It took less than a month, they gave a credit. Their lipo warranty is completely different from other products. The OP is in the US so a Washington address helps with return postage.

Ill try sending the esc back its not the motor I did a spin test on the motor and im getting about a 2% difference in voltage from one feild to the other. If you spin the motor it with turn into a generator and give a small amount of voltage.
