Flex shaft fit in the strut.

I have a Hughey .150 flex cable, and a Fullers Super strut. When I insert the solid shaft part of the flex cable into the strut, it is a tight fit, and does require a small amount of force to turn it (definitely does not spin freely). If I insert it backward so the solid part of the shaft is in the front part of the strut (where the brass bullet is) it fits just nice with no play, and spins freely. Is this normal?

I've had some that were snug like that flyboy. The lead teflon bushings ID was slightly reduced when it was pressed in.
Hold the strut with the stub in place as if you were trying to bend the stub. Pull the stub towards you, rotate the strut and pull it again. Do this in about four locations and the fit will be right where you want it. Be careful not to bend the cable, it doesn't take alot of force.
