    Stuffing tube question

I am going to do my first scratch build, should I use a stuffing tube with a liner or one without?

Thats one of those things that is personal choice. You will get pros and cons for both. I have never done a build with out using one.

Some guys do some don't simple as that, I have never run a boat with one. Never had any problems so for me I won't change.
      IMO they add driveline drag.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

So for a 3/16 flex without a liner I need a 1/4 or 6mm brass tube, is that correct guys, does water come up thru more if you dont use a liner?

1/4" works well with 3/16" flex and no liner. You might want to add a short 7/32" piece on the motor end to help keep down water intrusion and keep the flex centered better. It can be soldered in or use a little loctite 603 to secure it. (solder holds up to heat better).
I used to run with teflon liners but after having one snag the flex and start spinning inside the tube gave up on that idea.

Do yo solder it with the flex in to center or will it solder the flex too?

I am only just getting back into FE after a 2 year break but thought 1/4 tube was used for 3/16 with a liner or .187 flex and no liner.
3/16 and no liner needs the next size tube down.

I was looking on the OSE site and it said 1/4 for 3/16 shaft, I want to get the correct one.

Do you use a liner or just a tube?

No liner. Just go by what OSE shop recommends. It is right on the money. Cat, mono, or hydro?

Your talking .187" flex but also mentioning 3/16", they are both the same size diam. Getting confusing on what you mean, lets start again. 1/4" o/d tube takes a .187" flex with no liner, 9/32" o/d tube takes a .187" flex with a liner.

Its one of those sprintcat knockoffs on ebay, 30 inch cat, 125.00 shipped, its my first scratch build, I am excited, but I want it to come out good, do you think I should use one of those stuffing tube blocks to put in the tube or just put a slot in and fill around it?

Yes I said 3/16, but yes .187 flex is what I am going with, so the .250 or 1/4 OD tube is the one to get, is that correct?

Yes .250" or 1/4" o/d if your not using a liner.
