No 3060/14 - should be enough to push that hull way beyond 80mph

Lehner has them on special for 460 euro each - thats like $550, now take off the 19% TAX/VAT the Germans have and its even cheaper. Maybe $1100 landed!! for both

Paint, batteries, rx/tx, nut bolts, paint, props etc I don't see as big ticket. Motors, escs, drive line, and hardware I do

In the end you get what you feel is right for you. I can only speak for myself. I made the choice to use Lehner, and would never look back. I still have Leo's, but slowly cleaning out. Just sold my MHZ 114 with castle 1717's they are great! But I would still pick Lehner any day. Why? They just feel right! no slack in the bearings no wobble, they spin freely like a spindle, so if you let go of the throttle the props will spin the motor. In short, it's just a nice ride with plenty of power.

Are you painting it yourself? Paint is the most expensive single item on mine (Im building a 185cm mystic as well), but everything is expensive, so it really adds up.
I'll be following your build if you do a thread on it. Have you ordered the hull yet?

Depending on what paint scheme I decide on it may be done by someone that knows how to airbrush.
Once I get the hull I'll post up a build thread.

Just to give some infos, installing Lehners for a 50mph doesn't sound like a good idea to me at all.

I can 100% confirm the infos from Kent about quality of these motors, in my eyes they have without doubts the highest quality standard of all available rc brushless motors. But they are pricey and in such a build way too expensive for the result. Also the listed 3060/14 just has too little kv and is more intended for industrial applications.

If you want a fair and cheap setup two choices:
                        1)
2x MHZ Scorpion 5035/760kv Marine Edition by MHZ
                        2x Swordfish 240A ESC
2x 10S Lipo (5000mah or higher and at least 40C rating)
                        2x Octura X457 to PropShop 6019/2
                        speed: 60-70mph

                        2)
                        2x TP 5850 w. 820kv
                        2x Swordfish 240A ESC
2x 10S Lipo (5000mah or higher and at least 40C rating)
                        2x Octura X457
                        speed: 60-70mph

                        regards,
                        Manuel

I definety agree with Manuel that the 3060/14 not being optinal kv BUT it can work "im sure" - low 30k on 10s should be more like it so 3060/8 or close, will give you high 30k on 12s. (thats what I would do) Again 50mph theese days is very little for a big cat or should I say nicer setup. Just bite the bullet get the Lehners, install them and look at them for a while untill you can affort to progress :) Ha! They sure look good too. Manuel might be able to hook you up with some gear! sorry for the promo Manuel LOL

Sven, if you are still looking for a reliable 50+ MPH with a 72" Mystic C5000 cat, for around $1,500 (w/o cost of hull) I would consider running twin Leopard 5698 600KV or 835KV CR motors, (2) Turnigy Aquastar 240Amp ESCs, and twin CR Octura X465 props, 10S2P 5000mAh >50 C rated LIPOS. IMO - Both motors can handle at least 120% of their rated Amperage and Voltage. Keep an eye on motor/ESC & LIPO temps. Prop down if temps are above 140 degrees F - ESC/motor, 135 F LIPOs. Don't try to go cheap-up-front on LIPOS. Buy Hyperion - well worth it in the long run.

However, at 50 MPH this 72" cat will look slow. The above setup has the potential of 70+ MPH.

Have you bought the hull yet?

Again guys. The 50 mark was just a ball park cause my genesis seems quick at its 40 mph. If it goes faster then good. I want it to look fast but I don't want to drop 10,000 on equipment to make her stupid. I just want the boat to be reliable, good looking on the water, and with a reasonable price range for that size of boat. I'm know I could easily get the genisis to hit 80's but that's not what I want from boats.
The YouTube vid named "mystic c 5000 electric powered_part 1" is fast enough but I would guess he sunk a pretty penny into it too.
If 80 mph is what's gonna make this boat look good on the water then let's shoot for that speed instead.

Oh and no I don't have the boat yet.
I'm selling my car to buy a skyline. While I wait for that to arrive and get licensed I'll be driving my other car. Once the skyline is on the road I'll sell the other car and some of not all those proceeds will go to the c5000. This is why I'm saving the money up right now. Once I get a solid setup idea from everyone here I'll start buying the goodies. When the boat arrives I'll just have to install the gear and go.
