    foam inserts

    do the foam inserts in the genisis serve any other purpose than stopping it sinking should the worst happen... is it wise to remove them ?

    I'm not familiar with the genesis hull, but foam is never wise to remove from a hull unless you intend to replace it with more or better foam. Also, aside from floatation, it can also stop/cushion the batteries/electronics from breaking through the front of the hull in a sudden stop.
